A FARMING truck towing a trailer with livestock inside has overturned on the A55.

This is said to be on the A55 towards Abergele, just before the Rainbow Bridge.

A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: "Shortly after 9.20am this morning (May 12), we received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A55 Eastbound at Old Colwyn which has closed the road.

"The collision, involving a truck towing a trailer, has overturned with livestock inside.

"The road closure will remain in place until the scene has been cleared.

"Please avoid the area and take a different route if possible."

One eye-witness said: "Carriageway blocked with a farming truck on its side as well as a animal trailer that looked to be occupied.

"Recovery truck, police and fire engines on axes all in attendance.

"They are diverting people by Colwyn Bay. Traffic tails back past Mochdre."

The incident has caused chaos on the A55 this morning with long tail backs and road closures as well as diversions.

A55 Westbound traffic was being held, temporarily, at Rainbow Bridge.

Traffic Wales North and Mid said this traffic has now been "released."
