Care home residents were treated to a special theatre performance in Colwyn Bay. recently

Nine residents and two staff members from Merton Place Care Home were invited to Rydal Penrhos School for a dress rehearsal of the Prep School’s end-of-term show, Forever Treasure Island.

Valerie Smith, activities co-ordinator at Merton Place, said: "We were thrilled to be the test audience.

"Our residents travelled over to the school hall, accompanied by our little friends from the reception class.

"Everyone enjoyed the top-class performance, all the children involved should be very proud of themselves."

The visit is part of a long-standing intergenerational programme between the care home and the school.

Ms Smith said: "It’s heartwarming to see the joy that these activities bring to our residents.

"The connection with the children really does brighten everyone’s day and there is so much value in sharing stories, connections and laughter.

"Huge thanks to the team at Rydal Penrhos for inviting us to this event."
