THE POPULAR manager of a theatre in Colwyn Bay has retired after 32 years of service.
Phil Batty, pictured, retired last week after 32 years at Theatr Colwyn, 28 years of which he served as manager.
Mr Batty started working at Theatr Colwyn in 1993, and went on to become its manager in 1997.
But his connection with the theatre began long before then, appearing as an actor in well-known stage productions such as Wind in the Willows, The Wizard of Oz, and Mother Goose.

During his time as manager, Phil oversaw some of the theatre’s most significant moments.
In 2010 and 2011, he guided a £738,000 front-of-house and backstage redevelopment, a transformation that ensured Theatr Colwyn could continue to serve its community with pride.
More recently, he led the fundraising campaign for its brand-new auditorium seats, which have just been installed— a feat described by the theatre as a "lasting legacy for future audiences to enjoy".
The theatre thanked Mr Batty for his service and wished him well in retirement.
A Theatr Colwyn spokesperson said: "We thank Phil for his years of dedication, creativity, and hard work, and we wish him the very best for a happy and well-deserved retirement.
"His impact on Theatr Colwyn will be felt for many years to come."
