THOUSANDS of people descended on Llandudno for the town’s annual fireworks display, which ended with a breathtaking grand finale.
The £42,000 display launched on time from North Shore beach on Friday, lighting up the sky with a dazzling 20 minute show. Visitors from across the UK packed the promenade to witness sparkling sprays, comets, rockets, shimmering colours, sizzling whistles, soft crackles, and more.
The night began with a dramatic opening bang that made the crowd jump and scream in delight, quickly giving way to laughter and awe as the display unfolded.
Once again, the event was hailed as “one of the best” firework displays by attendees. One spectator said to the Pioneer that it was “the best non-Disney display I've seen,” while another commented: "Wow what a show, thought New Year in Llandudno had come early."
Posting on the Pioneer Facebook page, Mark Mercer commented: "Probably the best fireworks display in North Wales."
Antony Bee said: "Great night, a credit to everyone who organised it. We’re so lucky to have this going on in our town. Tonight was the best yet."
John Platt wrote: "Watched many displays here over the many years and I've got to say, this year was the best we have ever watched. It was brilliant, probably one of the best displays we have ever seen, so big. Well done to the organisers and thank you."
Marika Williams said: "Absolutely fabulous and an excellent turn out. The best in Wales."
Will Chaloner commented: "The finale caught us all out! Brilliant! Can't wait for next year."
Ian Mccue wrote: "Absolutely brilliant. I think it was better than Blackpool's display."

Ignite Pyrotechnics returned as the event’s fireworks contractor, continuing their streak of creating memorable nights for Llandudno residents and visitors alike.
The event was organised by Llandudno Town Council. They were supported by Adam Williams and his team from Llandudno Pier and Tir Prince, as well as Conwy County Borough Council.
This year, a strong focus was put on bucket collections, with organisers encouraging visitors to give "a couple of pounds" to help support the costs of staging the event in future years.
Prior to the event, Cllr Carol Marubbi, Chairman of the Fireworks Sub-Committee, said: "Ignite, that we have worked with for the last couple of years, are fantastic. I don’t know how they are going to blow us out of the water this year.
"I have been working with them for a while and I always say to them - 'you can't surprise me this year' - last year they had Italian fireworks, the white silvery ones at the end, and that was spectacular.
"The actual fireworks cost about £25,000 - we have people from Blackpool, Burnley, Leeds, people from everywhere came to see the fireworks last year and they said it was one of the best displays they have ever seen.
"We can't compete with London but the actual cost of £42,000 is because we’ve got to have toilets, we've got to have paramedics, St John's Ambulance - we have to adhere to the rules and guidelines. We have to have security and they have to be Level Four/Level Five - they all cost thousands, so the rest of the money is all on safety, on highways, that is what the main cost is for us.
"We want people to be safe and if everybody gave £1, it would be a huge benefit. We have also got collectors and they get 25 per cent of what is in their bucket for their charities - The Lifeboat, the Lions, the Sea Cadets - all these people we help."
Following the event, Llandudno Fireworks Display posted on Facebook: "We hope you all enjoyed our spectacular firework display tonight.
