A MAN from Abergele was found in possession of cocaine while he was drinking at a bar in Rhyl.
Yousif Shokhamohammed, 36, of Market Street, appeared at Mold Crown Court today (February 25), having previously pleaded guilty to cocaine possession.
Prosecutor David Mainstone said on December 13, 2025, police were informed that a male in Rhyl was in possession of drugs.
Officers found Shokhamohammed at a bar on Water Street, drinking alone at the premises.
He was taken outside to be searched, and police found two bags of white powder – one in his wallet, and the other in his pocket.
When interviewed by police, Shokhamohammed admitted being in possession of cocaine, but said he “would have let anyone else take it, had they asked”.
Representing Shokhamohammed, Simon Parry said he is “lightly convicted,” with no drugs-related offences on his criminal record.
This incident was a “wake-up call” for Shokhamohammed, Mr Parry added.
Recorder Benjamin Blakemore, presiding over today’s hearing, adjourned the case until Wednesday, March 25.
The probation service will compile a pre-sentence report on the defendant in the intervening period.
Shokhamohammed is on unconditional bail until then.
