The 10 most dangerous streets in Colwyn Bay revealed

This analysis uses police.uk open data to retrieve street-level crime data for the two policing neighbourhoods that cover Colwyn Bay's urban core: Colwyn and Eirias.

Data was pulled for all 12 months of 2025, with a total of 933 individual crime records retrieved and analysed.

Street-level crime locations on police.uk are anonymised – each crime is "snapped" to the nearest map point, which may be the centre of a street, a public location like a park, or a commercial premises such as a supermarket or hospital.

This means the data shows approximate concentrations, not exact crime scenes.

Generic location types (e.g. "hospital", "supermarket", "petrol station", "parking area") were excluded from the street rankings, as they represent location categories rather than named roads.

Overall crime statistics

The Colwyn area accounts for just more than 60 per cent of all recorded crime across the town.

Crime category breakdown

Violent crime dominates, accounting for nearly 44 per cent of all recorded offences across both neighbourhoods – broadly in line with the pattern for Wales as a whole, where violent offences make up the largest single crime category.

The 10 most dangerous streets

1. Green Hill – 39 crimes (3.2 per month)

Green Hill is located in the Old Colwyn area of Colwyn Bay within the Eirias ward. The surrounding area consists predominantly of single-person households and terraced housing, with nearby schools including Ysgol Iau Hen Golwyn and Ysgol Bryn Elian.

Violent crime accounts for 51.3 per cent of all offences on Green Hill. Burglary is notably high compared to other top-ranked streets, making up 12.8 per cent of offences.

Crimes were unevenly spread through the year, ranging from zero incidents in January, February and May to seven in June and November.

2. Kyffin Close – 39 crimes (3.2 per month)

Kyffin Close, within the Eirias policing neighbourhood, is the most evenly distributed in the top 10, spanning all major crime types.

Monthly totals were relatively stable, ranging from two to six incidents, with a slight uptick in October (six) and November (five).

Pentraeth, in Old Colwyn, stands out for its high drugs offence count – eight cases, or 21.1 per cent of all crimes here – the highest proportion of any street in the top 10.

Criminal damage and arson also feature heavily at 21.1 per cent. Crimes fluctuated between one and seven per month in 2025.

4. Bodelwyddan Avenue – 32 crimes (2.7 per month)

Bodelwyddan Avenue is located in Old Colwyn within the Colwyn policing neighbourhood.

It is the only street in the top 10 where shoplifting overwhelmingly dominates, making up 68.8 per cent of all offences.

Together, these two categories account for nearly 86 per cent of all offences, a pattern often seen in residential areas with concentrations of social housing.

Cadwgan Avenue runs through the Colwyn policing neighbourhood in Old Colwyn.

Together, they account for 88.5 per cent of all offences, making this one of the most concentrated examples of combined violence and nuisance in the top 10.
