Search the Public Notice PortalA CAR park formerly run by Conwy County Borough Council is set to switch to a private parking system within the next week, amid confusion over current charges.
Readers have contacted the Pioneer to question whether payment is required at the main Bodlondeb car park at weekends, which is currently operating without a parking machine. Some have been using the nearby cricket pitch car park to pay for parking, although it appears that these payments may not have been necessary.
Conwy Council no longer manages the main car park at Bodlondeb. The historic estate was leased to Quidos Investments Limited in May 2025, with the company signing a 250-year lease.
Late last year, Quidos Investments entered negotiations with the council to manage the main car park on its behalf. However, those plans were later dropped, and the company is now introducing a private operator.
The car park adjacent to the cricket pitch remains under the ownership of Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC).
A spokesperson for Conwy Council said: “Conwy County Borough Council no longer manages the main car park. However, the car park beside the cricket pitch is still managed by Conwy County Borough Council and it will continue to be a pay and display car park on weekends and bank holidays.”
A spokesperson for Bodloneb Parking Limited confirmed to the Pioneer that drivers using the main car park do not need to pay, as the payment machines are not yet 'live'.
They added that once the system is fully operational, users will be able to pay to park.
The system is due to go live within the next week.
Parking charges are expected to be in place seven days a week at the main car park.

Nick Pritchard, director of Quidos Investments Ltd and Ideas Forums Ltd, told the Pioneer in January: “We’ve decided to bring a private company in that will operate the car park for us at the same prices/tariffs – we may even now reduce them.
“The council, from what I’m aware, will continue to run the cricket ground car park seven days a week.
“We considered closing the car park completely as we now have some great businesses taking different parts of the building bringing jobs and footfall back to Conwy.
“We've now decided against closing it as we still want to encourage the general public to come and spend in the town. Yes, the car park will operate seven days and yes, we will still offer free passes to those that benefit the local areas and give back to the community."
Mr Pritchard added: "The estate costs a considerable amount to maintain."
