COLWYN Bay Pride returns to the town this weekend with a promise from organisers that it will be "bigger and better than ever" as it introduces its first-ever parade.
Colwyn Bay Promenade - now home to Monty Python’s Terry Jones sculpture, unveiled at his birthplace in Colwyn Bay earlier this month - will be awash with colour, music and celebrations during a full weekend of events on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10.
Together for Colwyn Bay are behind the community-led vibrant celebration of inclusion, diversity and talent and all ages are welcome to join in the festivities.
What's planned?
The celebrations begin on Saturday evening with the brand-new Pride Party, taking place on the beach from 6pm – 11pm. The free event will feature DJ sets from Sound Radio 103.1, a live set from DJ Knayomi and a headline performance from drag artist The Royal Serenity.
The main Colwyn Bay Pride event takes place on Sunday, May 10 from 11am - 6pm along the promenade between Porth Eirias and Colwyn Bay Pier. Visitors can expect live entertainment across two stages, family-friendly activities, community and craft stalls, food vendors, street entertainment and beachside fun.
Britain's Got Talent finalists Han & Fran will be taking to the main stage on the Sunday at 4pm.
First-ever Colwyn Bay Pride Parade
One of the highlights of the day will be the first-ever Colwyn Bay Pride Parade, led by Batala Bangor. Participants will gather at Porth Eirias before making their way along the promenade in a colourful and welcoming celebration of community spirit.
Groups and attendees will also have the opportunity to help carry a giant Progress Pride flag during the parade.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own flags, banners, outfits and anything colourful to join in the celebration.
Main Stage
The Main Stage programme will include performances from residential and visiting artists throughout the day, hosted by Chris Williams from The Magic Bar, Llandudno, alongside entertainer Pam Sandwich. The event will culminate in a grand finale performance from Thomas Hartley and the Scrapyard Community Rock Choir.
The Emerald Stage on the pier will showcase community performances and returning favourites, including the much-loved 'Drag Your Heels Catwalk', giving aspiring drag performers the opportunity to take to the stage in front of a live audience.
