A NEW clay café at a family-friendly pub in Rhos-on-Sea is already firing up plenty of creativity.
The Pavilion at the Rhos Fynach has been transformed into the Clay Café, offering residents and visitors the chance to relax, socialise and get creative by painting everything from mugs and plates to making keepsake prints. The café opened on April 27.
There is no studio fee – creatives simply pay for what they paint. Food and drink will be available from the Rhos Fynach menu.
The venue is hosting its first Pizza, Prosecco and Pottery evening tonight (Wednesday, May 13). This includes a pizza, a glass of Prosecco and a choice of mug to paint.
Husband and wife Justin and Kate Tilley own the Rhos Fynach.
Kate, Marketing Director, said: "We had an absolutely fabulous May Bank Holiday weekend, with the café full at times, and painters painting al fresco with a drink and bite to eat from the Rhos Fynach.
"It has been wonderful to see families coming together and painting an item each, without a screen in sight – just creativity, chat, bonding and laughter – really wonderful.
"The kiln room is working overtime with pieces being fired, happy customers coming to collect their masterpieces – it’s so exciting to see the idea of a pottery painting café coming to full fruition, and making people happy."
The Clay Café is open daily from 10am – 6pm. Sessions can be booked online, or walk-ins are also welcome at any time.
All glazing and firing will be carried out on site, allowing the team to manage the full process from start to finish.
Once pieces have been painted, they will be ready to collect within 10–14 days. For those just visiting the area, postage can be arranged.
The Clay Café will also host private events.
Last year, the pub and restaurant launched its newly revamped crazy golf course.
Kate said: “After the success of the revamped crazy golf last year, it’s great to keep building on that momentum and continue evolving what we offer.
“The Clay Café adds a completely different dimension, and we’re especially pleased to be able to extend our food and drink offering from Rhos Fynach into the space. It means visitors can enjoy the full experience – getting creative while also relaxing with great food and drinks – as we head into the warmer months."
