Three North Wales walks have been named among the UK's best in recent years by AllTrails, each highlighting the region’s natural beauty and range of adventures.
Whether you’re seeking a rewarding pub walk, a peaceful woodland stroll, or a challenging climb to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), North Wales has a trail to suit everyone.
Three of the UK's best walks in North Wales
Best pub walk
The Llangollen Circular trail was named one of the UK’s best pub walks for 2025 by the outdoor experts at AllTrails.
Rated as a ‘moderate’ route, the walk covers 14.5km and takes around four hours to complete.
It starts in Trevor and loops out to Llangollen before returning via the canal towpath.
Walkers can enjoy historic sites and scenic routes, including Trevor Hall Wood and Castell Dinas Bran.
The trail has earned a 4.7 out of 5 rating on AllTrails, with users praising its views and variety.
One reviewer said: "Amazing walk, beautiful views."
A second said: "Really peaceful walk with great views. A good incline to begin with but the levels off."
There are several pubs along the route, perfect for a refreshment stop or meal.
The Telford Inn, in Trevor, is located at the beginning and end of the walk, and has been described as "friendly", "welcoming", and "a place you’ve got to go."
For those who prefer to pause partway through, Sun Trevor in Llangollen offers another option.
Located just off the canal, it is described as a "family and dog-friendly, traditional Welsh country pub and restaurant" and boasts a 4.4 rating on Tripadvisor (from 590 reviews).
Best hidden gem
Named one of the UK’s top family-friendly walks for 2024, the Rhaeadr Fawr (Aber Falls) trail is a 4.2km out-and-back route that can be completed in around one hour and 15 minutes.
It has a 4.6 rating from 570 reviews on AllTrails and is considered an easy, accessible walk for all ages and abilities.
Aber Falls itself has also been named one of the UK’s best ‘hidden’ waterfalls.
It was described as a "beautiful waterfall at the end of an amazing valley".
UK Hidden Gems said: "Aber Falls is considered a hidden gem due to its stunning natural beauty, remote location, and the impressive cascade of water as it plunges over a cliff into a pool below amidst the rugged Welsh countryside.
"The waterfall offers visitors a peaceful and awe-inspiring experience away from the more crowded tourist attractions."
The best time to visit the trail is between April and September.
Best Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) trail
The Llanberis Path to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) was previously named one of the UK’s most popular walks by AllTrails.
It begins in the car park at Dolbadarn Castle and stretches 14.6km, taking around six hours to complete.
It is considered the "easiest" of the main routes to the summit and is especially popular with first-time visitors.
AllTrails described the route as a "long, gradual ascent up to the summit, where breathtaking views await."
The path is mostly clear and steady but becomes steeper and rockier near the top, so good footwear is recommended.
There is a café halfway up (Halfway House) and a visitor centre at the summit, which includes a shop and another café.
The route is dog-friendly but requires dogs to be kept on leads due to free-roaming sheep.
The Llanberis Path holds a 4.7 (out of 5) rating from walkers on AllTrails.
One reviewer said: "Perfect trail for the dog and kids."
