A MUM has raised more than £2,000 for a specialist school in Llandudno which goes "above and beyond" for her son.
Jennifer Evans, from Llandudno, has run several races this year to raise money for Ysgol Y Gogarth, residential special school for students with special educational needs, including autism, speech and language difficulty, and other learning difficulties.
Jennifer's son Archie, 4, who is autistic and non-verbal, attends the school which she said shows "so much love and care" for Archie and other pupils.
Yesterday, she completed the AJ Bell Great Manchester Run half-marathon, having completed 5k and 10k races earlier this year.
Jennifer's efforts have helped raise £2,190 (at the time of writing) for the school, which she said will "help fund experiences, opportunities and equipment for these amazing children" - to donate to the JustGiving page, click here.
The fundraising effort was a cause "very close to her family's heart", with Jennifer adding: "I am raising money for this amazing school as everyday they create a safe, nurturing environment where children with ALN are free to be themselves and feel safe.
"They offer opportunities that would never happen in a mainstream school.
"The staff go above and beyond everyday and show so much love and care, as parents we can’t thank them enough for that.
"This is my way of thanking the school and giving back, all money raised will go directly to the school to help fund experiences, opportunities and equipment for these amazing children."
Jennifer thanked those who had supported her initiative and said the fundraising page would remain open "for a few more days".
She said: "Massive thank you to everyone who has donated and shared my page, an amazing amount of money raised for a very deserving school
"Thank you Iain Ashley for all the support through my training and being there on the day, proud of your amazing time too, and all my family and friends for the voice-notes - they were definitely needed to give me a boost."
