A TEMPORARY website has been launched to handle both NHS and private enquiries ahead of the opening of a new dental practice opening at Bodlondeb in Conwy.
Dental Academy Conwy has signed a 20-year lease at the redevelopment site and is aiming to open this summer, subject to an inspection by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB). Planning permission has now been granted.
The Academy has seen received a huge amount of enquiries and in response, have launched a new website enabling prospective patients to register for private treatment at Dental Academy Conwy or go through BCUHB's Dental Access Portal to register for NHS treatment.
This may not be at Dental Academy Conwy - this process is managed by BCUHB and not by individual dental practices.
A statement from the academy advises: "As of April 1 2026, patients and practices no longer have the freedom to register patients directly on an ad-hoc basis. Under the new NHS Wales guidance, all patients seeking an NHS dental practice must now register through the central portal system.
"Once submitted, the health board will allocate you to a suitable dental provider based on availability and locality.

The new dental practice, set to create 20 new jobs, hopes to see between 200 and 250 patients a day. The facility will feature 10 treatment rooms and offer both NHS and private dental treatments.
The project is being led by practice owners Darren King and Ravi Singh, who have worked together since 2013.
The pair are also behind the existing Dental Academy Bangor, which works in partnership with Bangor University to help train hygienists and dental therapy students.
They said in a statement: "We have received many messages since the announcement of our sister practice Dental Academy Conwy being passed by planning permission.
"Please note - It is currently under development and is not yet open to patients.
"We have set up a temporary website page to address both NHS and Private enquiries we have received."
Dental Academy Conwy is being developed and funded by Mr Singh and Mr King.
The pair said in a statement in May: "The development, planning, investment, and operational vision behind Dental Academy Conwy has been led by the Dental Academy team. The amount of work, commitment, and personal investment that has gone into bringing this project to life over such a long period cannot be understated.
"This project is about increasing access to dental care - not reducing it."
The Bodlondeb offices and surrounding land, including the main car park, were leased to Quidos Investments Limited in May 2025 under a 250-year agreement.
