GOOD news has been confirmed for runners as Conwy Parkrun prepares to return to its familiar RSPB setting.
In a message to participants, organisers confirmed that the weekly 5km event will once again start from the RSPB Conwy site from June 20, marking what has been described as a “new chapter” for the popular community run.
While the return brings a sense of familiarity for many parkrunners, some temporary changes will remain in place due to ongoing building work in the area.
A statement from Conwy parkrun said: "I am delighted to confirm that as of June 20 2026, the start of Conwy parkrun will revert to the RSPB.

"There will be some minor alterations to the way we start our event until all current building work at the site has been cleared away.
"The RSPB car park will be open and available to parkrunners from 8.15am and will be closed no later than 8.40am. After this time runners will need to utilise alternative parking at Tesco and Conwy Business Park.
"This is a new chapter for Conwy parkrun and I hope it will be treated as such. Now is the time to look forward with excitement and not to revisit old arguments.
"I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the core group of amazing Run Directors and volunteers who have tirelessly worked to keep Conwy parkrun on the map. You truly are all High Viz Heroes.
"I ask only one thing from you... Don’t forget your barcode."
It is understood that "public pressure" has forced the run directors to revert back to the original course with a start and finish at the RSPB.
There have been mixed emotions over changes to Conwy parkrun in relation to the revised route, which returned to action in June 2025 after a long four-month pause due to construction work relating to major upgrades on parts of the coastal path.
Upset was sparked by the controversial introduction of a new start position on the lower path on the Conwy Cob. The RSPB Conwy nature reserve had been the start and finish point of the parkrun, which attracts hundreds.
Conwy parkrun held a consultation with runners earlier this year that demonstrated that runners wanted to revert back to their "original start and finish."
