Person 'loses everything' in Old Colwyn property fire

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) said they attended a blaze involving two properties in Peulwys Lane but that the occupants were safe.

Councillor Cheryl Carlisle said there had been an "explosion" in the incident, and that nobody had been injured after the fire "started in one house and spread to another".

She added: "I understand started in one house and spread to another. Very good to hear that no one has been killed or injured.

"The community will now rally round and help the families affected, with clothing and support.

"Housing at Conwy council will look to sort emergency accommodation and we are working with housing association Carterfi Conwy."

Councillor Diane Woods said "everyone is safe" but that a resident had "lost everything" in the blaze which also affected a neighbour.

She is helping coordinate a collection for affected residents at Peulwys Community Centre.

Cllr Woods added: ""Luckily everyone is safe. I have been up and spoken to the residents affected and signposted to relevant agencies.

"There is going to be a collection for the resident who has lost everything and the affected neighbour."

A NWFRS spokesperson said: "We were called at 12:41 this afternoon to reports of a property fire on Peulwys Lane, Old Colwyn.

"The fire involves two neighbouring properties. Five appliances and an ALP are currently in attendance.

"All occupants from both properties have been accounted for. We continue to advise people to stay away from the area while the incident remains ongoing."

North Wales Police also attended the scene of the blaze.
