A MAN who assaulted a custody detention officer in St Asaph has been sentenced to detention in a young offenders’ institution.
Vinny Murray, 20, of Ffordd Morfa, Llandudno, was handed four weeks’ detention at Llandudno Magistrates Court on Monday (September 14).
He admitted charges of assaulting an emergency worker by beating, and using threatening or abusive behaviour with intent to provoke unlawful violence, at Monday’s hearing.
Murray was in custody in St Asaph on Sunday, September 6 when he assaulted CDO Griffiths.
The defendant then used threatening or abusive behaviour on Mostyn Street, Llandudno on Saturday, September 12.
His offending was deemed so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified, while Murray was also said to have a previous record of offending.
