JD CYMRU North champions Colwyn Bay begin their pre-season campaign on Friday night (July 7) away to Flint Mountain.

The game at Flint’s Essity Stadium (kick-off: 7.30pm) will be the first of six friendlies for Steve Evans’ side as they gear up for the new JD Cymru Premier season.

The Bay squad have been back training for a number of weeks and the manager has been pleased with the preparations so far.

“We’re looking alright. The new lads have come in, settled in well and we’re really looking forward to starting the games programme,” Evans said.

“We’ve done the hard graft and now is about doing the tactical stuff in the games and getting ready and ironing out the rustiness.

“We start our games programme and we’ll have four weeks of games programme and then we’ll be ready for the start of the season.”

The league season begins on Sunday, August 13, when the Seagulls  make their JD Cymru Premier debut at home to Caernarfon Town in a game that is likely to attract a big crowd to the 4 Crosses Construction Arena.

Evans has already added Nick Rushton, Lloyd Marsh-Hughes, Danny Holmes, Sam Turner, Oliwier Fiedor and Dan Jones to his squad.

Jones has joined after leaving Wrexham and Evans said: “He’s a young hungry player, who wants to develop and learn.  He’s a powerful, intense player who has great quality.

“I’m excited to work with Dan, he’s been on our radar for the past year.

“He has a lot of potential and we believe he is at the best place to develop and fulfil that potential.

“We’ll be looking to add to the squad but we’ve got four or five weeks until the start of the season so I’m sure things will materialise in the coming weeks.”
