A RUNNING group held their fifth 'Couch to 5km’ course which encouraged those who were new to the sport or returning to lace-up their trainers and to enjoy the joys of running.

The eight-week running plan (C25k), by Porth Eirias Runners, started on January 15 and took place along the promenade in Colwyn Bay.

The plan was led by enthusiastic volunteer Run Leader Catrin Williams who was supported by fellow leaders Melanie Palmer and Bethan Wynne-Jones and a number of volunteer run buddies.

Participants gradually built up their distance over eight weeks with a combination of running and walking. They were encourage to complete two sessions each week with the run club and then complete 'homework' at the weekend.

On March 9, all participants graduated from the course.

As a celebration of their achievement, they were presented with a C25k finishers medal, goody bags, cake and a small glass of Bucks Fizz.

Porth Eirias Runners Group Leader, Paula Jones said: “The course gets more popular each year and we already have enquires for next year. This one has been the most successful to date.

"Catrin has been a great asset to our Run Leader team and brings so much energy and fun to every C25k session. There is always plenty of laughter!!!

"The feedback for the course has been very positive."

The C25k graduates are now encouraged to continue their running journey and join with fellow members of the run club on a weekly basis.

Porth Eirias Runners are a mixed social running group for all ages and abilities.

Everyone is welcome to join whether it’s to train for a race or just to get out, meet new people and have a chat while getting active.
