LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams has captured talented playmaker Jay Gibbs from former club Caernarfon Town.

The midfielder was the latest new signing to arrive at The Giant Hospitality Stadium during the January transfer window, with the ex-Holyhead Hotspur man playing some of his best football under Williams’ leadership.

The pair have formed a close bond off the pitch and the Canarirs released Gibbs in order for him to move to the JD Welsh Premier League side.

Williams, said: “I obviously worked closely with Jay at Caernarfon and I know the qualities he possesses as a player.

“I certainly think he can add something to the team here at Llandudno and help us to push for that play off place we’re hopeful of getting come the end of the season.”

Gibbs has penned a deal until the end of the season and is available for selection when Tudno begin Phase Two of the top flight campaign on Saturday against Newtown as they look to secure a Europa League playoff spot.

The club also announced that full-back Danny Taylor has left the club to seek a new challenge elsewhere.

Taylor featured 85 times and was part of the squad that travelled to Europe back in 2016 against IFK Gothenburg.

He said: “I’d like to wish the rest of the lads the best of luck with the remainder of the season, and hopefully they can secure that play-off spot and continue to progress in the cup.”

Williams is currently looking to add more new faces to the squad ahead of the transfer deadline tomorrow evening.
