A TALENTED young golfer secured a notable honour from a high-profile regional tournament.
Richard Wolfendale, a Year 10 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School, was part of the squad that travelled to compete at the ISGA Northern Open, which was held at Fleetwood Golf Club.
The 14-year-old has progressed a significant amount thanks to the coaching given to him by Rydal Penrhos’ staff, who are led by academy co-ordinator Ian Richardson.
This has led to a series of impressive outings during the initial stages of the season, and Richard turned in possibly the finest performance on his young career to date to finish seven shots below handicap and secure the Overall Nett title from the competition.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This represents a remarkable achievement from Richard’s perspective, and this is down to the incredible development in his overall game in recent months thanks to the work he is putting in with our Golf Academy programme.
“Mr Richardson deserves an enormous amount of credit for the hard work he is putting in with the group, which is bringing a wealth of success and raising the profile of the thriving programme.”
