COLWYN Bay chairman Dave Tichiner has confirmed that manager Alan Morgan will continue in his role next season.

The Seagulls’ boss transformed the club and almost secured an unlikely Evo-stik North playoff spot, and Tichiner is confident the management team can bring success ahead of a busy summer at the Four Crosses Construction Arena.

He said: “I am disappointed we didn’t make the play-offs this season because I really thought we had every chance of doing that, but in the end I think too many games and too many injuries to key players over the last couple of weeks proved too big a hurdle.

“You also need a bit of luck to go your way and we didn’t get too much of that with events at the Trafford and South Shields games and the key injury to Astley Mulholland. I think we also paid the price for Danny Bartle missing a lot of games through injury.

“But I am more than pleased with the way the management team have transformed the team, with very few changes, since coming in and I believe they are the right people to get us out of this division.

“They now have a summer and full season to make the improvements needed to not only give us a chance of automatic promotion next year but also to have a squad strong enough to compete successfully in the higher division if we do go up.”

The chairman also confirmed that assistant Craig Hogg and coach Neil Coverley will also be remaining at the club after agreeing extensions.

Hogg also received confirmation that he has been accepted on to the UEFA A Licence course, and will begin the programme later this year.

“A lot of the players I’ve spoken to have said they want to stay which is encouraging and the manager will be talking to them all over the coming couple of weeks,” added Tichiner.

“Some may inevitably be tempted away, but at the moment it looks as though the nucleus of the current squad will remain and give us a solid base to build on and progress.”
