COLWYN Bay’s management team have outlined their plans for the future at a supporters’ evening last week.

Alan Morgan, Craig Hogg and Neil Coverley confirmed their commitment to laying the foundations for more local youngsters to come through the Academy to first-team level.

Speaking at the Supporters Evening on Friday, June 22, they said the club’s plans to reform a youthful Reserve team next season would provide a stepping stone to the first team, something which has been lacking at the Evo-stik League side in recent years.

Trials for the Reserve team are planned over the next fortnight with reserve team manager Chris Thompson having received more than 50 applications so far.

The first team management will have a big input into the progress of the reserves, who will play in the FAW Youth Cup next season, and the plan is for the club to play in the English FA Youth Cup in the future.

Players who show promise will be invited to train with the first team to enhance their progress.

Assistant manager Hogg, said: “We want to see more local youngsters come through the Academy to the first team and hopefully go on into full-time football.

“The squad is buzzing and we are very excited and positive about the season ahead.”

The Seagulls have already been doing strengthening and conditioning work to ready themselves for the new campaign, and they start full training next week.

Morgan said: “Pre-season work will be massive in getting the team physically and technically prepared for what I hope will be a successful season.”
