AN ASPIRING rugby league star has received a national squad selection ahead of an upcoming competition.
Will Lynch, a Lower Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, will be part of the Wales U19 side that travel to Serbia in August to compete at the high-profile European Championships.
The 17-year-old earned his place on the squad after impressing coaches during trials, and he will now look to make a considerable impact on the national stage against some of the most talented countries on the continent.
The newly appointed House Captain has experience with one of the best amateur sides in Great Britain – Leigh Miners Rangers Academy – a set up that has produced numerous professional and international players over the years.
He has been part of the set-up since the age of six, and he was awarded an U16 scholarship at Salford City Red Devils last year.
The sports scholar has also turned out for RGC U16s in rugby union in games against Scotland and other regional sides during what has been a standout young career to date.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This is fantastic news and it a richly deserved selection for Will.
“He has developed a great deal this year thanks to the work he is putting in with our coaching and Strength and Conditioning staff, and it is great to see Will’s dedication bringing rewards with another Welsh squad selection.”
