A FUNDRAISING page has been set up for former Llandudno skipper Tom Dix as he recovers from a serious leg break.

The combative midfielder is set to be out of both football and work for between four and six months after sustaining the injury on his debut for Flint Town United against Brymbo earlier this month.

An outpouring of support throughout the North Wales football community swiftly followed for Dix, who skippered Llandudno to the Huws Gray Alliance championship and subsequent promotion to the JD Welsh Premier League.

Dix also played a significant role in Tudno’s memorable first season in the top flight, where they achieved third place and Europa League qualification, which resulted in a landmark tie against Swedish giants IFK Goteborg in what was the biggest occasion in the club’s history.

A target of £3,000 has been set by the club and £690 has already been raised thanks to a series of generous donations from across the region.

United manager Niall McGuinness, who visited Dix last week, said: “It is horrible to see the impact this injury has had on him and his family.

“Our aim as a group now is for this to bring us closer together and make us stronger with more incentive to succeed our goals this season.”

The Silkmen have also arranged a charity race night to raise funds for the popular figure, which will take place following their friendly with Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
