LLANDUDNO continued their preparations ahead of the new JD Welsh Premier League season with a 4-0 friendly reverse to Chester at the Giant Hospitality Stadium.

An entertaining first period brought chances for both sides, but neither were able to open the scoring thanks in no small part to a series of superb stops from new Tudno goalkeeper Shaun Pearson, who joined the club from Holywell Town earlier this summer.

After the break saw the visitors grab the initiative on 67 minutes when Trialist E finished well after some neat approach play from highly-touted teenager Lloyd Marsh-Evans.

The home side almost levelled proceedings soon after when forward Toby Jones was put through on goal after 73 minutes, but he sliced his effort wide when one-on-one with the visiting custodian.

They were made to pay for this miss on 76 minutes when yet more outstanding work from Marsh-Evans presented a chance to Nathan Brown, who calmly slotted past Pearson to double their advantage.

Now fully in the ascendancy, the away side sealed their victory thanks to the superb determination of Alex Downes, who kept a corner alive before firing an unstoppable effort in off the underside of the crossbar.

There was still time for another which arrived courtesy of Cain Noble on 82 minutes to round off the scoring against a Tudno side that were missing a number of key squad members for last Friday’s clash.

Manager Iwan Williams, said: “I wasn’t happy with our performance but missing four key players showed in terms of balance.

“Great to give the young lads some minutes again. Credit to Chester who were ruthless in the second half. A real test and one we can learn from.”
