COLWYN Bay have moved swiftly to make “interim” boardroom changes following the shock resignation of chairman Dave Tichiner.

The Seagulls announced that vice-chairman Bill Murray has agreed to take over as acting chairman following an emergency meeting on Monday, July 23, with Paul Edwards filling the role of acting vice-chair “until further notice”.

Tichiner resigned from the role due to ongoing health concerns last weekend, with the popular figure leaving a huge void after getting the club back on track with the appointment of Alan Morgan, Craig Hogg and Neil Coverley to the management team.

A club statement, said: “The board would like to express their immense gratitude for everything David has done for the club over the past 5 years in charge. His hard work, dedication and generous investment has kept the club financially solvent during his tenure.

“The directors would also like to wish David all the best for the future and hope to see him at the Four Crosses Construction Arena soon, once his health improves.

“During this period, the club will seek further interest for potential board members and continue to pursue additional investment.

“The board of directors will be working closely with the management team to ensure budgets are agreed and adhered to, and to ensure a smooth kick-off to Colwyn Bay’s start in what we hope will be a successful season in the inaugural Evo-Stik West division.

“To echo the chairman’s recent statement, the board would also like to thank all our club volunteers for their continued support and look forward to working with them this season.

“We’d also like to thank our supporters and hope you will continue to get behind the team during this unexpected transition period.”
