LLANDUDNO geared up for their high-profile friendly against Wrexham on Tuesday night with a 4-0 defeat at a Wigan Athletic development squad.

Iwan Williams’ new-look squad have enjoyed a busy summer of friendly fixtures as they look to improve their JD Welsh Premier League fortunes this time around, and they turned in another positive display against the newly promoted Sky Bet Championship side and restricted them to a goalless draw at the end of the first period.

They were undone by some ruthless finishing after the interval to ensure they had nothing to show for their efforts, and after their clash against Sam Ricketts’ men they close out their pre-season campaign at home to Buckley Town on Wednesday (7.30pm) and at Porthmadog in the Pathfinders’ Cup on Saturday (2.30pm).

There has been one departure from the Giant Hospitality Stadium this week, with striker Dan Westwood granted his release to sign for Midland League Premier Division side Sporting Khalsa.

The forward came with a big reputation but failed to impress during a brief stay in the Welsh pyramid, and will now head back to England to continue his standout semi-professional career to date.

Sporting boss Ian Rowe, said: “I’m made up we’ve managed to get this signing over the line and want to thank everyone who’s worked to make it happen.”

Tudno officials will be putting on a supporters’ coach going to Porthmadog on Saturday, and will be leaving the ground at 10am.

Cost for the trip is £10 for non-members, £8 for supporters club members and to book text Iain Dyer on 07393 634029.
