LLANDUDNO opened their WRU National League Division One North campaign in fine style with a superb 42-17 win at Mold.

The Goats were in dominant form throughout and scored three tries in the opening 18 minutes through Rhys Henderson, Nick Dundee and Oscar Lennon, with Ryan Pike extending their advantage further with two conversions and a penalty.

This provoked a brief spell of dominance from the home side, who reduced the arrears when Daniel Williams burst clear for their first touch down of the contest. Jack Martin added the extras.

Pike and Martin exchanged penalties soon after, and the away side pulled further clear through a well-worked score from Lewis Jones that was converted by the fly-half.

After the break saw the Goats secure maximum points as Byron Davies crossed the white wash, which Pike converted, and despite a late try from Alan Green it was not enough to take the gloss off a resounding attacking display from the ambitious visitors.

Champions Nant Conwy also got off to a flyer with a hard fought 15-6 home victory over Ruthin, and Rachel Taylor begin her stint as Colwyn Bay’s head coach with a 26-3 reverse at WRU National League Division Two North rivals Dolgellau.
