LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams said his side must “learn lessons” from their 4-0 home defeat to Connah’s Quay Nomads.

The in-form side were unable to make it three JD Welsh Premier League victories in succession in front of the S4C Sgorio cameras, and Tudno face another stern test of their credentials this Friday when they travel to Bala Town (7.45pm).

Williams, said: “You have to give full credit to Connah’s Quay they boxed us off throughout the game. We had a game plan to try and get the ball down and play but they smothered us.

“Say what you want about it not being the nicest way to play but it does get results and if you are not at it and willing to compete then you are going to be in trouble.

“We won’t let this deflate us or define our season, we have a big game next week at Bala and a massive October so we will dust ourselves down and go again next week.

“The first goal was a sucker punch as I thought we started okay but got undone by a set piece, and to be fair as the half went on we looked like a rabbit in the headlights so it was good to settle everyone down at the break.

“We wanted to build some momentum but conceding a penalty within a minute was disappointing. Every game is tough in the WPL and we will learn from this. They are an honest group of lads who will be hurting so it is my job as manager to pick their heads up this week in training ahead of another difficult game.”

Michael Wilde opened the scoring for the visitors when he finished off an impressive set-piece move, and they doubled their advantage on 28 minutes when Callum Morris converted a Ryan Wignall cross.

After the break saw Morris notch his second of the evening from the penalty spot after 46 minutes, and the talented forward rounded off a fine individual display with his hat-trick thanks to another spot kick following an infringement on Andy Owens.
