LLANGEFNI Town extended their advantage at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit with an 8-0 home rout over basement dwellers Llandudno Junction.

Chris Roberts’ side opened up a four-point gap thanks to Nantlle Vale’s draw with Prestatyn Sports, and the title fancies will be aiming for further success in the JD Welsh Cup when they host Saltney Town on Saturday (2.30pm).

The hosts wasted no time in making an impact on proceedings and they went ahead early on when Iwan Jones’ cross found its way into the top corner from 25 yards.

Cefni doubled their tally after 19 minutes when recent signing Kevin Lloyd converted from the penalty spot after Jack Williams was impeded in the box, and they added a third when Williams reacted first to prod home from close range after an Alan Mark Owen header was brilliantly saved by Tom James.

There was still time for the home side to add another before the break courtesy of a sensational long-range volley from Andy Sinclair, and striker Matthew Jones got in on the act after the interval with a fourth on 59 minutes.

Iwan Jones and Matthew Jones both notched once more in the closing stages to secure a brace apiece, and Owen capped off an outstanding individual display with a composed finish to complete the scoring.
