LLANSANNAN extended their advantage at the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division summit thanks to a superb 3-2 win at title rivals Llanfairfechan Town.

Despite the eventual result it was the home side that started brighter and they went ahead after just three minutes through Ellis Jones, and the same player was on hand to double their advantage shortly after the break with a well-taken effort with 47 gone.

This provoked a strong response from the visitors, who got themselves back into the contest after 61 minutes through Gruff Roberts, and Gari Evans’ men got back on level terms thanks to a Euros Lloyd strike on 79.

With the game heading towards a stalemate, Roberts pounced once again for his second of the afternoon on 86 minutes to give the away side a crucial three points in their quest for the championship.

Machno United now occupy third spot after they were held 3-3 at Old Colwyn, with a Joel Massam effort four minutes from time enough to secure a share of the spoils for the hosts.

Wayne Edwards Hughes’ Rhuddlan Town picked up a morale boosting success as goals from Ian Davenport (2), Callum Roberts and Jordan Fraser secured a dramatic 4-3 victory at Abergele, and a brace from Rhion Morris was the highlight of Bro Cernyw’s eye-catching 3-1 triumph at Cerrigydrudion.
