A TALENTED young triathlete came away from a regional competition with an impressive success.

Jaydon Blears, a Year 7 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, was part of a large contingent that competed at the Conwy Tri-Stars Triathlon event, which took place in Mold earlier this month.

The 11-year-old turned in a fantastic display in the swim, run and cycle sections of the race, eventually crossing the line in first position in his age category.

Jaydon joined the school ahead of the start of the academic year, and he has also represented Colwyn Bay Rugby Club at various youth levels to date.

He received a medal acknowledging his efforts on the day, and the notable achievement will stand him in good stead as he looks to progress in the coming months under the support and guidance of specialist coaching staff situated at the school.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “This was an absolutely outstanding result and one that Jaydon can be enormously proud of.

“He has already displayed a tremendous attitude during his initial stages within the Rydal Penrhos community, and we are looking forward to helping him achieve his goals and develop both academically and from a sporting perspective.”
