A Rhos-on-Sea Muay Thai kickboxer has been crowned world champion.

Mike Egan, who is a member of the Immortals Gym-Thaiboxing-Wales in Rhos-on-Sea, took out the International Muay Thai Kickboxing Association (IMTKA) world title fight last month against Italian Davide Pietrollini.

Egan has been into martial arts since the age of seven when he began with karate.

His total career fight tally of 81 spans across a few disciplines including karate, boxing, MMA, but mainly muay thai. Out of those 81 fights he has amassed 62 wins including various title fight victories.

Immortals Gym-Thaiboxing-Wales, on Facebook, said: "All the hours training whether you want to or not, cutting weight when you really want to eat everything in sight and generally punishing your body because you're so focused on your end goal. That's what few others see.

"Dedication all the way, early mornings or late nights. Whatever you need to do to reach the top of your sport, it all paid off.

"Doesn't mean its all going to stop now though."
