A TALENTED rugby league star has earned another national call-up for a prestigious fixture next week.

Will Lynch, an Upper Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, will be part of the Wales U19 squad that will take on England at the Manchester City Football Club Academy Complex on Friday, October 12.

The 18-year-old is aiming for further success on the national stage after playing a pivotal role in the Welsh side’s impressive third placed finish at the European U19 Championships this summer.

It promises to be a memorable weekend for the sports scholar and Prefect, who will also attend a special ceremony on Thursday, October 11 to receive another international cap.

Following the game against their English counterparts, the contingent will then take in the Super League Grand Final as VIP guests, enjoy a meal prior to the game and meet some of the players after the encounter.

This is the latest in a long list of successes for Will, who received an U16 scholarship at Salford City Red Devils and he has also represented RGC U16s in rugby union in games against Scotland and other regional sides.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “This represents another significant milestone for Will, who has firmly established himself as a key figure within the squad and hopefully he can contribute with another positive performance against England.

“Will is a tremendous credit both to himself and Rydal Penrhos, and he is another shining example of what can be achieved as part of our leading sports scholarship programme.”
