RHUDDLAN Town progressed to the JT (Charlie) Jones Presidents Cup second round with a 3-0 home win over Denbigh Development.

Wayne Edward Hughes’ side avoided a potential banana skin in comfortable fashion, with top scorer Jordan Bellham opening the scoring with a neat finish after 35 minutes.

After the break saw the home side miss several chances to put the game out of sight before Matty Rees doubled their tally on 80 minutes, and the same player put the exclamation point on proceedings with his second with 87 gone.

Llandudno Athletic also booked their place in the hat thanks to a 5-1 home victory over a spirited Y Glannau.

Two goals apiece from Jack Williams and Joe Roberts played a huge contributing factor in their success, with Ben Seager also hitting the target to round off a clinical display.

There was no such luck for Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One leaders Llanelwy Athletic, who suffered a 5-2 home reverse after extra time to Machno United.

Liam Rowland Jones and Kallum Doorach netted in a stunning late fightback from the hosts to send the game into an additional 30 minutes, but Owain Jones, Callum Parry and Luke Roberts all struck for United to send them through.

Penrhyn Bay Dragons produced another fine display to come away with a 5-2 home triumph over Bro Cernyw, and a hat-trick from Tom Williams was not enough to prevent Betws-y-Coed from suffering a dramatic 5-4 defeat at the hands of Llanfairfechan Town Reserves, who had Dan Roberts’ effort after 82 minutes to thank for their win.
