LLANDUDNO were unable to build on their midweek cup heroics as they fell to a 2-1 home loss to Llanelli Town.

The JD Welsh Premier League side were unable to build on a positive start and missed a hoist of chances throughout the contest, and Iwan Williams’ side now have some time to regroup before they next take the field at champions The New Saints of Oswestry Town on October 17.

Striker Alfons Fosu-Mensah spurned two good opportunities in the opening exchanges after the hosts began on the front foot, with Shaun Pearson making a smart stop to deny James Loveridge at the other end after 20 minutes.

The same player did manage to take advantage of another chance on 27 minutes as Loveridge produced a composed finish to open the scoring, but the home side responded well and almost levelled matters immediately following the restart when defender Mike Pearson’s ferocious long-range strike was tipped over by Oliver Davies.

George Harry and Zyacc Edwards were next to go close as the first half drew to a close, but Tudno did manage to get back on level terms with the last action of the first period courtesy of a Mike Pearson finish.

After the break saw Alun Webb’s finished superbly thwarted by Davies following a strong start to the half, with Town star Loveridge causing significant problems at the other end which resulted in the forward narrowly missing the target after impressive build-up play.

The hosts controlled the majority of possession midway through the half as Harry and Danny Hughes both wasted chances, and they were caught with a sucker punch on 77 minutes when Jordan Follows converted past Pearson, and despite Kurtis March receiving a red card late on Tudno were unable to find a crucial leveller and had nothing to show for their efforts on the day.
