RGC star Tom Hughes said his side must focus on the basics as they look to get back to winning ways against Bargoed on Saturday.

The Gogs return to their Stadiwm Zip World base on the back of two disappointing results, and the visitors will come into the game with plenty of confidence after ending Aberavon’s seven match unbeaten run last weekend.

Hughes, who has played a key contributing factor in the incredible rise to prominence of Mark Jones’ side, is eager to give the passionate home support “plenty to shout about” before the Principality Premiership takes a two-week break.

He said: “We have always taken one game at a time, focusing on the 80 minutes and that hasn’t changed for us.

“We are in a different position, especially with our current home record but we can’t change what has gone before.

"All we can do is concentrate on our performance, and make sure we do our job. Bargoed are always a tough test for us, and we have had some close games over the years.

“The Aberavon result tells us they will come at us full of confidence. The supporters have been great over the past few weeks home and away, and hopefully we can give them something to cheer about on Saturday.”

Things have not gone according to plan for the Gogs at their Colwyn Bay base this season, and they have already tasted defeat a number of times on home soil in an uncharacteristic run of poor recent form.
