A YOUNG Colwyn Bay rugby star travelled to the continent to join up with a high-profile national squad.

Fin Hare, a Lower Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos School, was recently selected to attend a special training camp for Germany U18s ahead of a busy series of fixtures for the group.

The 17-year-old Colwyn Bay youth product flew on Berlin for the camp, and he familiarised himself with the set-up and made a considerable impact as he looks for further selections in the future.

He has been at Rydal Penrhos for more than a decade and has emerged as one of the key figures within the First XV and has also made a series of appearances for RGC West and the Gogs’ U16 side last season.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “It is always very pleasing to see our sports scholars leading by example in their pursuit of sporting excellence, and Fin is a prime example of the benefits of the programme.

“I am delighted with the progress he has made, particularly last season, and his overall influence on school sides and with RGC will stand him in very good stead as he looks to make a name for himself on the international stage.

“He can be rightfully proud of his efforts and this was another very worthwhile experience in terms of his overall progression and development.”
