LLANGEFNI Town progressed to the Mawddach Challenge Cup second round with a 3-1 home win over Llanberis.

Chris Roberts’ side have been in relentless for so far this season as they go in search of multiple honours and an elusive promotion to the Huws Gray Alliance, with summer signing from Gaerwen Liam Morris getting them off the mark early on with a neat finish after three minutes.

The visitors struck back almost instantly when Tomos Saynor levelled matters on eight minutes, but Cefni went into the break a goal to the good when Louis Williams unfortunately diverted the ball into his own net with 37 on the clock.

After the break saw the home side finally book their place in the hat after missing a host of opportunities throughout the second period, with Morris once again coming up with the goods on 72 minutes to complete the scoring.

Also through to the next round are Barmouth and Dyffryn United, who had goals from Bobby Griffiths, Shane Jones and Paul Lewis to thank for their 3-1 home success over Llannerchymedd, with prolific striker Gary Jo Owen and Tom Roberts on target for Holyhead Town in their 2-1 triumph at Penrhyndeudraeth.

Andy Barker and Jamie Whitmore hit a brace apiece for Mynydd Llandegai in their 7-3 home cup win over Amlwch Town, and Luke Owen’s effort on 113 minutes gave Pentraeth a passage into the next round with a 2-1 extra time victory over Y Felinheli.

There was no such luck for Nantlle Vale, who suffered a last gasp 3-1 loss at current holders Llandudno Albion, with Gaerwen also out following a 2-1 reverse at St Asaph City.

In Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One action, high-flying Bodedern Athletic suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Ryan Harden’s Llandyrnog United.
