LLANDUDNO Albion moved up to fourth in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One standings with a thrilling 4-3 home win over Llanrwst United.

The home side came out in dominant fashion and opened the scoring on eight minutes through the prolific Dave Maddock, but they were pegged back on the half hour mark when Callum Parry converted a chance for the Rwsters.

This provoked a strong response from the hosts, who regained the initiative on 34 minutes courtesy of a Peter Jones strike, and they doubled their advantage after the break when Dan Evans found the net after some impressive work from Jones.

Darren Jones’ men all-but sealed their victory on 70 minutes through a thunderbolt into the top corner by Ricky Jones, but United pulled two back in the closing stages through Parry and Sam Roberts in a frantic finish that saw Albion narrowly hold on for three points.

There was no such luck for struggling Llandudno Junction, who remain rooted to the foot of the table after a heavy 4-0 home loss at the hands of Llanrug United.

A Jordan Phillips effort was not enough to see Glan Conwy progress in the Take Stock Van Hire Cup as they were downed 2-1 at Llannerchymedd in the first round stage, but there was better fortune for Division Two side Penmaenmawr Phoenix, who extended their recent good run with a 5-1 triumph over Mochdre Sports.

Alfie Caldecott was in sensational form throughout and was rewarded with a hat-trick, with Mike Lundstram also on target for the seventh placed side.
