BANGOR City midfielder Steven Hewitt has announced his departure from the club.

The talented playmaker has announced he has left the Huws Gray Alliance side after accepting an offer from an Australian side based in Melbourne, with the club confirming the news on Monday, November 12.

A club statement, said: “Stevie has made the decision to move to Australia to pursue his football career.

“Stevie had no interest in joining another club in Wales and was really enjoying his football and current form.

“We wish him and his family very well with the move and the future.”

The 24-year-old re-joined the club this summer after a brief spell away, and he played a significant role in the Citizens’ securing a second-place finish in the JD Welsh Premier League under Kevin Nicholson before their demotion to the Huws Gray Alliance.

He has played a huge part in City’s recent resurgence and his presence within the squad will leave a big hole whilst presenting an opportunity to another member of a talented group of players.

A post on Hewitt’s Twitter page, said: “I would like to thank everyone involved with Bangor City. It's been an amazing two years with some brilliant moments.

“I wish everyone the very best for the rest of the season.”
