LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams has released an emotional statement regarding his life outside football which resulted in him “considering his position” at the club.

The popular figure received a hugely positive response to a Twitter post following their narrow loss to Carmarthen Town, which detailed the personal problems his family has gone through over the last year and the way this has impacted his day-to-day life.

This include the death of his mother and taking in his seriously ill father, but after “thinking about walking away” Williams has now opted to fight on and try and get the JD Welsh Premier League side out of their recent slump.

The statement, read: “I’m honest to say that I’ve considered my future in football tonight (Saturday). Not because of the negativity on social media, but because I was letting the reasons why I came to Llandudno FC down.

“This year has been my worst, I lost my mother in February and recently took my severely ill father into my family home whilst providing 24-hour care. Still I planned sessions whilst thinking of way to overcome the predicament we are in.

“I’m not after sympathy. With the support I have received from my players and those closest to me – I’m not giving up. My mother wouldn’t let me.

“I watched my mother die and I am watching my father die in front of my eyes which is killing me inside, but letting Llandudno FC down is hurting just as much.

“Sometimes in life you have to deal with adversity and the last 12 months have been the worst. I apologise to the fans and know they deserve better. The easy thing would be to walk away, and I have seriously considered it. But one thing my mother told me the night before she passed away was ‘keep fighting and never give in’.

“So until my favourite football club tell me to stop turning up then I will keep coming.”
