LLANGEFNI Town remain in control of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One standings thanks to a hard-fought 2-0 home success over newly promoted Prestatyn Sports.

The home side controlled possession for long periods of the opening exchanges and broke the deadlock on 31 minutes when prolific forward Kevin Lloyd unleashed a thunderbolt from just outside the area that flew into the net to put the in-form hosts ahead.

This was followed by a second which arrived at the perfect time through another outstanding player in Cefni’s formidable front-line, with Liam Morris the beneficiary of some exceptional approach play to double their tally after reacting first to a shot that rattled the crossbar a minute before the interval.

After the break saw the away side pick themselves up and fight their way back into the contest, and although they did not have a goal to show for their improved performance they more than held their own against Chris Roberts’ side, who are widely tipped to achieve multiple honours at the end of the season in addition to an elusive promotion to the Huws Gray Alliance.

Bodedern Athletic also continued their fine start to life in the third tier as they secured a 6-1 home win over St Asaph City, with Casey Boylan and Shaun Jenkins hitting a brace apiece, but there was no such luck for Barmouth and Dyffryn United, who were undone by a Conor Jones brace in their 2-1 reverse at Llandyrnog United.

A Richard Roberts hat-trick gave Aberffraw an important 4-0 victory at Division Two rivals Meliden, but Amlwch Town were unable to cause a stir at the summit as they fell to a 3-1 home defeat to promotion hopefuls Glan Conwy.
