COLWYN Bay manager Craig Hogg could not hide his frustration as his side were beaten 3-2 at Colne.

The Seagulls mounted a stunning fightback but had nothing to show for their efforts despite a spirited display overall, and they will look to get back to winning ways during their home tie against Glossop North End on Saturday (3pm).

Hogg, said: “Frustrating is an understatement and the difference between us and them today (Saturday) was our final ball into the attacking areas of the pitch I feel.

“It’s a been a game where again we’ve totally dominated the ball, created good opportunities, caused them numerous problems and yet we found ourselves 3-0 down at one stage of play.

“I think I’d take playing really bad, unattractive football at the minute if it meant we were to win more games, because it’s now two games on the bounce where we’ve done well and we have nothing to show for our efforts.”

A defensive lapse in concentration from the Bay presented a chance to Matty Morgan on 22 minutes, and he made no mistake with the finish to open the scoring.

James Ellison and Lassana Mendes spurned good opportunities at the end of the first period to level matters, and they were made to pay after the break when Brad Lynch turned in a cross to double the hosts’ advantage after 53 minutes.

Things to another bad turn for the Seagulls on the hour mark when Ollie Wood headed past Andy Coughlin to secure a third for the home side, but Bay were given a lifeline soon after when Richard Taylor was shown a red card after an altercation with Mendes.

This sprung the away side into life and they reduced the arrears after 82 minutes courtesy of a fine curling effort from skipper Tom McCready, and a tense ending to the game was assured when Alex Downes halved the deficit in stoppage time.

Unfortunately for the visitors, there was not enough time remaining to launch another significant attack and had to settle for a loss.
