LLANDUDNO defender Steven Thomas in confident his side can turn things around and begin climbing the JD Welsh Premier League table.

The summer signing from Holywell Town has endured a frustrating few weeks in a Tudno shirt thanks to injury, and the 30-year-old is under no illusions as to the size of the task awaiting his side when they travel to title chasing Connah’s Quay Nomads on Saturday (2.30pm).

He said: “It’s a difficult one because I can’t say that it’s been really good because of our current predicament, however, everyone at the club who I’ve been in contact with has been brilliant with me and made me feel so welcome including the management and staff, players, board members and fans.

“It’s just massively disappointing with how we have struggled to get results, none of us enjoy getting beat and unfortunately has made my first few months here not as enjoyable as it should’ve been, which is our fault as players.

“But Iwan (Williams) has shown faith in me giving me my chance in the team. I know on a personal level, I haven’t done as well as I could have, the effort has been there but I’ve been lacking quality at times which I am really frustrated with myself about.”

Williams’ men come into the game on the back of a weekend off and the manager recently vowed to keep fighting to turn around the club’s fortunes although he is suffering in his personal life.

The Nomads have been in fantastic form this season and find themselves right in the chasing pack thanks to their league form, and their exploits in the Iron-Bru Cup have also come in for significant praise.

“We are under no illusion how big a task we’re facing against Connah’s Quay,” added Thomas.

“We were awful against them at home and were deservedly beaten. They are an excellent team with massive depth in their squad are well organised.

“That has to be our motivation because we’ve let ourselves down too many times this season and if we didn’t believe we could go and get a result there would be no points in us turning up, so of course we think we can go there and cause an upset.

“We know it’s a massive ask but we have to go there, be brave and give everything we’ve got.”
