KINMEL Bay Reserves are out of the Lock Stock Fireworks Challenge Cup after a 4-2 home reverse to Llandyrnog United Reserves their second-round clash.
The Bay were undone by a second half onslaught that played a huge contributing factor in their downfall defeat but started the game on the front foot, which saw Josh Lloyd open the scoring on seven minutes with a neat finish.
United got a foothold in the game soon after when Matthew Blake levelled the tie on ten minutes, and they grabbed the initiative for the first time after the break when Matthew Williams marked his return to the visitors’ side with a composed effort with 48 gone.
Things looked bleak for the hosts when Sam Davies extended the away side’s tally with seven minutes remaining, but they were given a glimmer of hope immediately following the restart when James Sweetman halved the deficit after an impressive attacking move.
This momentum did not last long as the visitors sealed their passage into the next stage of the competition after 86 minutes, and once again it was Williams who was on hand to secure his second goal of the contest to send back out and put his side into the final four.
