LLANNERCHYMEDD sent shockwaves through Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two with a thumping 5-0 home win over leaders Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs.

The hosts produced their finest performance of the season to come away with an eye-catching success over a side that had lost just once prior to last weekend’s encounter, but they failed to convert from the spot during the early exchanges when Rob Jones’ effort was parried.

They finally broke the deadlock soon after when Josh Griffiths converted a chance for his first goal for the club, and Jones made up for his earlier spot kick miss just before the break with a fine header to double their advantage.

After the interval saw the home side completely dominate proceedings and they all-but sealed the points courtesy of a thunderbolt from Lewis Connor, with substitute Mark Jones putting the exclamation point on proceedings with a brace in the closing stage of the game to complete the rout.

Y Felinheli hotshot Iwan Owen was at his brilliant best to fire a hat-trick in his side’s dramatic 5-4 home triumph over Gaerwen, and Richie Roberts also hit a treble for Aberffraw in their resounding 5-0 success at an under-strength Holyhead Town.

There was no such luck for Amlwch Town, who are still without a point despite a spirited effort in their narrow 3-2 home reverse to Meliden.
