LLANDUDNO Amateurs suffered a blow to their Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title hopes with a shock 2-1 loss at Rhuddlan Town.

The hosts got off to a very strong start and they opened the scoring on ten minutes when Corey Taylor finished well after a neat passage of play.

This joy proved to be short-lived as the Amateurs struck back almost instantly when Scott Court fired them level after 12 minutes, but they were undone after the break 47 when Ian Davenport was presented with a chance, and he held his nerve to find the net and give them a crucial lead for a second time with 47 gone.

Veteran striker Leon Gierke was the star of the show as Llansannan extended their advantage at the summit with a 7-3 win at Old Colwyn.

Gari Evans and Tom Lewis’ side took a commanding lead early on when Liam Jones and Ifan Jones both hit the target within the opening 19 minutes, things got even better for the visitors soon after when Gierke despatched his first of the contest on 34.

Colwyn responded well after the break and got themselves back into the tie thanks to a quick-fire brace from Ryan Watson on 55 and 57 minutes, but Gierke ensured that the visitors remained in control when he fired in two more throughout the remainder of the contest to take his tally for the afternoon to four.

There was further good news as Abergele produced secured a 1-0 victory at Llandudno Athletic, and Llanfairfechan Town were held 1-1 at Machno United.

Bro Cernyw’s Llion Morris hit a two-goal salvo to guide his side to a 3-1 success over Cerrigydrudion to move them into second spot in the standings.
