A TALENTED Preparatory School gymnast has been put forward for a coveted national award.

Will Glanville, a Year 5 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, has been nominated for the 2018 Welsh Gymnast Recognition of the Year, which is an awarded issued by the sport’s governing body, the Welsh Gymnastics Association.

If shortlisted, the nine-year-old will attend the glitzy North Area Awards Ceremony later this month.

Will received the nomination after his sterling efforts with Grays Gymnastics Club in Llandudno, where he has enjoyed a phenomenal amount of success in a relatively short time as a member of the group.

This has included a series of competition gold medals at regional level, and this exceptional contribution has also seen him contribute significantly to team triumphs with the club.

The Prep pupil has developed across all areas of Rydal Penrhos life in recent years, thriving both academically and during the wealth of co-curricular opportunities offered.

Alison Hind, Head of Rydal Penrhos Prep School, said: “Will is a multi-talented individual who displays the sort of attitude and enthusiasm that we look to implement into each pupil under our care here at Rydal Penrhos, and it is great to see all his hard work paying off across a multitude of different areas.

“He has really taken to gymnastics and this is reflected in the wide range of achievements he has attained so far, and this bodes very well for his future both within the sport and his overall development in general.”
