A LATE leveller denied Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division leaders Llansannan victory as they drew 2-2 at Llandudno Athletic.

The pivotal clash between the title rivals went the way of the home side early on, and they were rewarded for their positive start after just ten minutes when Danny Talbot converted a chance.

This provoked a strong response from Gari Evans and Tom Lewis’ men, who grew into the game and got back on level terms through a fine effort from Rhydian Edwards on 35 minutes.

Things got even better for the visitors soon after when prolific forward Geraint Jones continued his sensational campaign with another well-taken finish two minutes before the break.

After the interval saw both sides miss chances to add to the scoreline, but Athletic kept going right until the end and secured a share of the spoils a minute from time when Ryan Jones found the net.

Llandudno Amateurs took full advantage and closed the gap at the top thanks to a 3-1 triumph at Bro Cernyw.

A brace from the in-form Mathew Beach did the majority of the damage, with Dean Hughes adding a third to round off the scoring on 68 minutes.

Rhuddlan Town extended their recent unbeaten run with a hard-fought 3-1 home success over Cerrigydrudion, with Marcus Scott (2) and Jordan Bellham on target, and Llanfairfechan Town remain in the championship picture after four goals apiece from Ryan Dodd and Aron Davies played a significant part in their thumping 10-3 win at Old Colwyn.
