A TALENTED track and field star turned in another medal-winning display at a high-profile competition.

Jonathan Osbourne, a Year 8 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, continued his excellent recent run of results at the North Wales Indoor Regional Championships, which took place at Deeside Stadium recently.

The Academic and Sports Scholar, who was representing Colwyn Bay Athletics Club, was competing in the U15 category and managed to produce a superb performance in the high jump, securing a personal best leap on his way to a silver medal finish.

This was followed by another silver medal in the high jump, and the 12-year-old narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the 60-metre sprint with another personal best time against older and more experienced opposition.

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, said: “This was another very encouraging performance from Jonathan, who works tremendously hard across all areas of his Athletics under our dedicated coaching team and his time with Colwyn Bay Athletics Club.

“He has a fantastic attitude to both his academic studies and his sporting development, and this can give him and everyone here at Rydal Penrhos a great sense of optimism in terms of what Jonathan can go on to achieve in the future.”
